WAFFLEMEISTER MAY MAPLE SYRUP & BLUEBERRIES WAFFLE PROMOTION

01/05/2019

May means Maple Syrup & Blueberries at Wafflemeister cafes this Spring…

Mmmm. Maple syrup. Blueberries. And waffles, the original Belgian street food. A delectable collaboration, a simple pairing and a brand new fruity taste sensation is available at Wafflemeister cafes for all of May 2019 … for £5*

May 1st may be Labour Day in the U.K. but in 1966, the World Tramps Congress in Argentina decreed that May 2nd shall be the International Day of Idleness. Then there’s a bank holiday Monday 6th May this year which means there’s lots of time to enjoy what’s on offer this spring.

At Wafflemeister we love this thought of stopping rushing and pausing to enjoy one of the world’s tastiest temptations, a warm Belgian Liège waffle, randomly spiked with real sugar pearl crystals, baked freshly in our irons with no need for extra oils, then smothered in real amber maple syrup. Then with an ample abundance of moist, delectable Blueberries as well. The only noise you’re probably permitted to make in the process of enjoying it really is a simple “Mmm, Maple syrup and blueberries”.

Or maybe you’d like to do some Maypole dancing at the same time, an historic ritual inspired by an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival. Yep, Spring is here, sunny days are coming, and it tastes real good!  BTW, traditional May Day celebrations include crowning a May Queen and dancing around a maypole…be our guest, just remember to send us the photos on social!

Well. We’ve got a wonderful grade A 100% Maple syrup, made from the xylem sap of sugar maple trees, just for you. These trees store starch in their trunks and roots before winter; the starch is then converted to sugar that rises in the sap in late winter and early spring, ready to be harvested.

Maple syrup has a softer, more natural sweet taste and is said to be hugely nutritionally superior. Believe it or not, pure maple syrup allegedly provides at least 24 antioxidants and contains Calcium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc and Manganese.

Whilst Blueberries, often labelled a superfood, are low in calories, incredibly tasty, and can allegedly do a wonderous amount of nutritious things too although we love them for their taste and fantastic colour. It’s a win win thing.

We also think the best thing to accessorise your meltingly intense maple and blueberry waffle might just be a Wafflemeister illy coffee.  When it comes to coffee, we’re passionate about perfection. That’s why we select illy who source their beans from only the top 1% of Arabica beans grown around the globe.

Their story begins in 17th century Trieste, Italy, one of the Adriatic port towns which served as the gateway to coffee culture. Since 1933, the Illy family has been roasting coffee there, ensuring a great tasting bean and roast.

Also – at all Wafflemeisters – all our coffee is made using the illy single origin bean, roasted to perfection, then ground freshly every time in all our stores, for a fantastic freshness and taste.

Our barristers are all fully trained too, so whether you’re after a classic espresso to get you going or a decadent mocha, made with our real Belgian melted chocolates, all we say is – you can’t get better!

And a maple syrup and blueberry waffle tastes just great, any time of day. So whether you’re wanting a sublime sticky breakfast, a tasty pick me up treat mid morning, a sweet toothed lunchtime dining experience, the best after school temptation or supper in town, we’ve got it warm and waiting for you.
